It has been shown to inhibit hydrochloric acid-induced gastric ulceration in rats. 1,7-Dibromoheptane also has a high detection sensitivity and can be used for the qualitative identification of fatty acids. The compound's viscosity is affected by changes in temperature and it forms dipoles due to its structure. This compound has been used as a covid-19 pandemic flu vaccine adjuvant.
