Descrizione

Fluorosalan is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the group of antimicrobial agents. It is a glycol ether with a hydroxyl group that inhibits bacterial growth by acidifying the environment and inhibiting fatty acid synthesis. Fluorosalan also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines in bowel disease. Fluorosalan is not active against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus or Clostridium difficile, but it can be used for treatment of Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This drug also has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect in an animal model of inflammatory bowel disease.
