This drug binds to the enzyme by forming a coordination complex with the 5th position of the substrate, which prevents it from binding to other substrates. 2-Amino-5-chlorobenzoic acid also inhibits prostaglandin E2 synthesis by inhibiting cyclooxygenase activity in rats.
