This drug has been shown to be effective against protozoa parasites such as Trypanosoma brucei, Plasmodium falciparum, and Leishmania donovani. 2-Amino-5-bromo-3-nitropyridine also inhibits the activity of uv irradiation on DNA. It has been found to be a good descriptor for diagnosis of some diseases such as diabetes mellitus type II and Parkinson's disease using statistical analysis of outliers.
