(Beta-Asp5)-delta-Sleep Inducing Peptide can be used for the detection of methyltransferase activity, by using it as a substrate for methylation reactions and measuring the rate of spontaneous desorption from a matrix. This compound can also be used for proteomic studies by using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI TOF MS) techniques.
