Casein kinase II is a serine/threonine protein kinase that plays an important role in the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation, apoptosis, and immune response. It has been shown to be involved in restenosis after angioplasty, as well as in tumorigenesis and radiation therapy. H-Arg-Arg-Glu-Glu-Glu-Thr-Glu - Glu - Glu - OH has also been shown to inhibit the replication of influenza virus by interfering with viral transcription and viral maturation. This peptide has been used for the treatment of alopecia, which may be due to its ability to inhibit hair follicle growth.
