• Descrizione: Apelin-36 is a human apelin protein. It is involved in the regulation of appetite and energy expenditure. Apelin-36 has been shown to be an independent predictor of body mass index and insulin resistance in women with polycystic ovary syndrome. Apelin-36 is also an indicator of the risk for cardiovascular disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. This molecule can be measured using a Western blot assay method on ovary homogenates. The level of apelin-36 can be used as a diagnostic tool for determining insulin resistance and overweight status.
