Descrizione:2-(1-Acetyl-2-oxopropyl)benzoic acid (2-EtOBA) is a byproduct of the industrial production of 2-ethoxybenzoic acid and 2-bromobenzoic acid. It is a chemical intermediate that is used in the condensation reaction of ethylene and benzene to produce ethylbenzene. The crystal structure of this compound has been determined using X-ray crystallography and it is monoclinic. The condensation reaction is catalyzed by copper, which has led to the discovery of a new copper catalyst for the synthesis of alkyl benzenes.
