Descrizione:Acibenzolar-S-methyl is a postharvest treatment that can be used in the control of plant diseases caused by bacteria, such as fire blight, bacterial spot, and black rot. It is a methyltransferase inhibitor that blocks the synthesis of methionine in bacteria. Acibenzolar-S-methyl has been shown to have an effect on transcriptional regulation in plants, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the enzymes responsible for energy metabolism. Acibenzolar-S-methyl is not effective against all types of bacteria, but it has been shown to inhibit the growth of some strains when used at concentrations of 1 ppm or higher. Acibenzolar-S-methyl can also be used as a fungicide to control postharvest disease caused by fungi such as Botrytis cinerea and Sphaerotheca macularis.
