Descrizione:(S)-Atenolol is a drug that belongs to the group of beta blockers. It is an amide with a chiral center, which makes it an asymmetric synthesis. The drug has been shown to reduce blood pressure and prevent heart attacks in clinical trials. It also has been shown to be effective in reducing blood pressure in humans and animals, as well as inhibiting the production of prostaglandin E2 in caco-2 cells. In vivo animal studies have shown that (S)-atenolol prevents cardiac arrhythmias induced by epinephrine and other agonists by blocking the beta-adrenergic receptors.
