2-Amino-3-iodopyridine is a synthetic small molecule that has the potential to be used as an anti-fungal agent. It binds to the tyrosine kinase receptor, which is important in the growth and development of fungi, such as Cryptococcus neoformans. 2-Amino-3-iodopyridine inhibits the tyrosine kinase by covalent binding to the pyridine ring, thereby inhibiting the receptor's activity. This drug also has a high inhibitory effect on dopamine receptors and may be useful for treating Parkinson's disease. The trifluoroacetic acid group protects this compound from hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases and increases its stability in vivo.
