Descrizione:3-Acetylcoumarin is a coumarin derivative that has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity in vitro. Coumarins are a group of compounds that are used as antimicrobial agents, as well as in polymer compositions and biological studies. 3-Acetylcoumarin has shown anticancer activity against human breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231) and can be used for the treatment of various cancers. It was found that 3-acetylcoumarin binds to metal carbonyl complexes and forms stable adducts, which is responsible for its cytotoxic effects. This compound also inhibits the growth of bacteria by interfering with the synthesis of proteins necessary for cell division.
