This compound is formed as part of the biosynthesis of aminophenols and heterocycles. It can be used to adsorb metal ions and organic compounds, such as chloride and butyllithium. 2-Amino-6-methoxybenzoic acid is also found in aeruginosa infections due to its ability to inhibit bacterial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis. The synthesis of this compound requires shikimate pathway enzymes.
