Descrizione:4-Amino-3-fluorobenzenesulfonamide is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme carbonic anhydrase. This drug binds to the active site of the enzyme and inhibits its function by sterically blocking access to the substrate. The binding site on 4-amino-3-fluorobenzenesulfonamide, which is located in the hydrophobic pocket, has been elucidated through x-ray crystal structures. It also inhibits other enzymes such as ethoxzolamide, a sulfonamide antihistamine, and brucella, a bacterium that causes brucellosis. 4-Amino-3-fluorobenzenesulfonamide will be useful for treating cryptococcus neoformans and leishmania infections.
