Descrizione:Betamethasone 17-butyrate is a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and antipruritic properties. The drug binds to the glucocorticoid receptor in the cytoplasm of target cells, which prevents the release of inflammatory mediators and inhibits prostaglandin synthesis. Betamethasone 17-butyrate has been shown to be effective in treating subacute toxicity caused by hydrocortisone in mice. The drug was also found to have toxic effects on tissues such as atrophy of the thymus and adrenal glands. Betamethasone 17-butyrate has also been shown to cause hematological toxicity and lymphatic toxicity (e.g., enlargement of lymph nodes) during autopsy studies.
