It also inhibits 5HT2A receptor binding in the brain, leading to increased levels of serotonin. This drug has been synthesized from cilastatin, an antibiotic that inhibits enzymes involved in the synthesis of cholesterol. 1-Bromo-5-Chloropentane is a low energy compound with a reaction solution that is scalable. The compound was found to be an inhibitor of pancreatic α-amylase and dopamine D3 receptors, leading to antidepressant-like activity in animal studies. Low doses of 1-bromo 5 chloropentane were also found to increase serotonin levels in mice without affecting dopamine levels.
