Descrizione:2-Bromobenzoic acid is a sodium salt that has been reported to be used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases and bowel disease. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to 2-bromophenol, its active form. 2-Bromobenzoic acid has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators, such as prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and cytokines by inhibiting cyclooxygenase 1 and 2 enzymes. This drug also inhibits the activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) in vitro. 2-Bromobenzoic acid may have an anti-inflammatory effect through its ability to inhibit NF-κB activation by preventing the release of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα).
