Descrizione:N-Benzyl-2-bromopropanamide is a pyridinium salt that can be used as a reagent for the synthesis of cationic pyridinium salts. It reacts with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde to produce alkylation products. N-Benzyl-2-bromopropanamide is also a useful synthetic intermediate for the production of drugs such as antiarrhythmic agents, cardiotonics, and diuretics. N-Benzyl-2-bromopropanamide is a racemic mixture and can be used for stereoselective synthesis of chiral compounds. The benzyl group in this molecule can undergo racemization when exposed to toluene or methylimidazolium chloride or condensation with an imidazole to form the corresponding diastereomers.
