Descrizione:5-(2-Bromophenyl)-2-furonitrile is a synthetic estrogen that has been shown in vitro to be a potent and selective agonist for the rat estrogen receptor. It has been reported to inhibit the proliferation of human breast cancer cells. 5-(2-Bromophenyl)-2-furonitrile inhibits the binding of estradiol and other ligands to their corresponding receptors, which may be due to its structural similarity with estradiol. This compound also binds to the estrogen receptor, but does not activate it, which suggests that it is an estrogen receptor modulator.
