N-Benzyl-N-methylglycine (MBMG) is a surfactant that belongs to the group of betaine compounds. It has been shown to have cationic properties and is used as a surface active agent in cosmetic products, such as shampoos, conditioners, and hair dyes. MBMG interacts with other surfactants to form micelles and has been shown to be effective in the removal of organic pollutants from water. The molecular interaction between MBMG and other surfactants can be described by the constant ratio at which they interact. The interactions between MBMG and other molecules are ionic, zwitterionic, or hydrophobic in nature.
