Descrizione:1,3-Bis(o-methoxyphenoxy)-2-propanol (BMP) is used as a stationary phase in gas chromatography. It is prepared by the reaction of o-methoxyphenol with 2-chloropropanol. It has a high degree of chemical specificity and can be used to separate neutral and acidic compounds. The use of BMP leads to repeatability and good damage tolerance due to its low column bleed. This stationary phase elutes at a wavelength of 254 nm and has an elution time of 12 minutes when using a flow rate of 1 mL/min. BMP is chemically stable, but its solvents are not, so it must be handled carefully to avoid contamination from solvents such as triethylamine or octadecylsilane.
