Descrizione:3-Bromo-1,2-propanediol is an oxidation product that is synthesized from 3-bromopropane. It is also a hydroxyl group. The ring-opening of epoxides with trifluoroacetic acid provides the desired product. It has been shown to be used as a spermatozoa mitogen and possesses mitogenic activity in bacteria strains. The compound was found to activate the toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) and increased the expression of TLR2 on P. aeruginosa cells. This compound has also been used as an analytical reagent for determining fatty acids in a sample.
