Descrizione:2-Bromo-2'-fluoroacetophenone is a peroxide with the chemical formula C6H3BrO2. It is used in organic synthesis as a precursor to other compounds, such as the amination of acetophenone to give ethylbenzene. The reaction proceeds by first forming hydrosulfite, which then reacts with the acetophenone and alcohol to form 2-bromo-2'-fluoroacetophenone. This process can be done in high yield because of the large excess of bromine relative to acetophenone. Hydrogen peroxide is used as a catalyst for this reaction, although it is not consumed during the process. The desired product can be isolated by filtration and washing with deionized water and then neutralizing with propionate.
