It reacts with an ethyl acetate and sodium bicarbonate to produce the desired product. 4-Bromo-2-fluoro-1,1'-biphenyl has been shown to be stable in acidic conditions, but susceptible to hydrolysis in basic environments. This compound can be synthesized by the Suzuki coupling reaction between aryl halides and organometallic compounds.
