2-(Bromomethyl)naphthalene is a chemical that has been studied extensively for its ability to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. It binds with high affinity to the mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibits the production of ATP, leading to cell death. 2-(Bromomethyl)naphthalene has also been shown to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can also induce tumor cell death.
