Descrizione

Tert-buty ethyl malonate is a catalyst that is used in the hydrogenation of aliphatic and aromatic carboxylic acids to their corresponding alcohols. This reaction proceeds through the insertion of the tertiary carbon atom into the double bond of the carboxylic acid. Tert-buty ethyl malonate is typically used in combination with an aluminium foil as a catalyst, which is then heated at 150°C for about three hours. Tert-buty ethyl malonate has been shown to be efficient in hydrogenating azide to amine. The reaction time can be shortened by using higher temperatures and pressures.
