tert-Butyl (4R-cis)-6-formaldehydel-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4-acetate is an organic compound that reacts with sodium hydrogen carbonate to form the sodium salt of tert-butyl (4R-cis)-6-(2,2-dimethylpropionyloxy)hexahydropyran. This chemical has been used as a reagent in industrial production processes involving rosuvastatin sodium salt and sodium hypochlorite. The compound is also used in the synthesis of thiosulfate, which is an important chemical for the manufacture of sulfur mustard gas.
