Benzoin ethyl ether is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of cationic surfactants. It is used in biological treatment and sample preparation. Benzoin ethyl ether has been shown to be highly resistant to metal chelates and radiation, as well as being chemically stable. This compound also has a high boiling point and low vapor pressure, making it suitable for transport purposes. In addition, benzoin ethyl ether reacts with hydroxyl groups on organic substrates by forming an oxygenated surface film, which prevents unwanted reactions from occurring on the substrate.
