Boc-glu-OBzl is a peptide sequence that is stabilized by the presence of aspartic acid, glutamic acid, and glutamic. The Boc group is used to protect the carboxylic acid functional groups in peptides from reactions with other molecules. This chemical protection prevents hydrolysis by proteases and allows for the formation of polypeptides. The presence of aspartic acid, glutamic acid, and glutamic in this sequence may also allow for enzymatic activity. Boc-glu-OBzl has been found to have vitamin K1 activity in rat liver microsomes. It has also been shown to be a good source of vitamin K1 after enzymatic hydrolysis.
