• Descrizione: p-Benzoquinonedioxime is a dioxime with hydroxyl and ether groups. It is used as a sealant for metal surfaces that are subject to corrosion, such as iron and copper. p-Benzoquinonedioxime reacts with fatty acids in the presence of an oxidizing catalyst to form polyenes. The solution can be hydrogenated to form the corresponding saturated hydrocarbons. The reaction mechanism is initiated by thermal oxidation of ethylene diamine or by the addition of a chemical oxidation catalyst, such as osmium tetroxide. In these reactions, the hydroxyl group on the p-benzoquinonedioxime is replaced by an alkene group.
