5-Bromo-1H-indazole is an indazole derivative that has been shown to have potential use in the treatment of pain. It binds to the allosteric site on the enzyme gyrase, which is a DNA topoisomerase that controls the supercoiling of DNA. This binding prevents ATP from binding and inhibits DNA unwinding, leading to a decrease in DNA synthesis and cell division. 5-Bromo-1H-indazole also binds with high affinity at the allosteric site on the enzyme adenylate cyclase, which is involved in signal transduction pathways. Binding of 5-bromo-1H-indazole causes an increase in cAMP levels and leads to functional effects such as antinociception.
