Descrizione:3-bromophenanthrene (3BP) is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) that can be quantified using electron ionization in gas chromatography. 3BP is considered to have an environmental risk, and the carcinogenicity of this PAH has been studied extensively. 3BP is found in coal tar, which is a byproduct of the coal industry; it can also be found in some types of soil and water. The major human health risks are associated with inhalation of high levels of 3BP, although it may also cause skin irritation. 3BP binds to DNA bases and alters the integrity of DNA strands, leading to mutations that may lead to cancer.
