Descrizione:(R)-(+)-2-Bromopropionic acid is an isostere that can be used as a synthetic replacement for the naturally occurring amino acid D-alanine. It has been shown to have a high affinity for binding with peptide bonds and therefore has potential use in the synthesis of peptidomimetics. The compound was prepared by reacting 2-bromoacetic acid with (+) -L-valine in the presence of an acid catalyst. This reaction yielded (R)-(+)-2-bromopropionic acid, which then underwent esterification with d-alanine to form (R)-(+)-2-(d-alaninomethyl)propionic acid, a surrogate of D-alanine.
