- 1-Bromo-4-N-Dodecylbenzene
1-Bromo-4-dodecylbenzene is a monomer that is used in the synthesis of polymers. The compound undergoes a cross-coupling reaction with an organic halide to form a new carbon-carbon bond. This reaction can be carried out at low temperatures and in the presence of an oxidation catalyst. 1-Bromo-4-dodecylbenzene has been shown to be useful as a photochromic monomer. It undergoes photochromism, which is the reversible conversion between two geometric isomers, due to its absorption spectrum. 1-Bromo-4-dodecylbenzene is also soluble in n-hexane and has been shown to have good solubility in trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TFMSA) and other organic solvents.
