It is a proton-containing compound that has been studied as a possible replacement for chlorofluorocarbons in refrigeration and insulation. The thermal expansion coefficient and the supramolecular properties of 2,2-bis(4-carboxyphenyl)hexafluoropropane have been investigated by structural analysis. This substance is also soluble in diethyl ether, which can be used to extract it from the reaction mixture. It has high uptake and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) retention times, as well as viscosity and FTIR spectroscopy absorption bands at 2900 cm−1 and 3300 cm−1.
