The compound has been reported to have potent inhibitory activity against sodium-dependent glucose transporter 1 (SGLT1) and microglia. 5-Bromo-2-methylbenzaldehyde was synthesised by reacting 2,5-dibromobenzene with methylmagnesium bicarbonate in tetrahydrofuran and canagliflozin.
