• Descrizione: 2-Bromo-4,5-difluorophenol is a potent inhibitor of the neurotransmitter uptake transporter. It has been shown to alter the homeostasis of glutamate in the nervous system and inhibit acid transporters. The inhibition of glutamate uptake by 2-Bromo-4,5-difluorophenol leads to an increase in extracellular levels of glutamate. This may result in excitotoxicity and neuronal death due to overstimulation of nerve cells or activation of ion channels that are normally regulated by glutamate. 2-Bromo-4,5-difluorophenol also inhibits acid transporters, which can lead to an accumulation of lactic acid. This accumulation of lactic acid may lead to a decrease in pH and cause neurotoxicity.
