Descrizione:4-Bromo-2-methylphenol is a chemical that is used in the diagnosis of collagenase enzyme. It is applied to wounds as a biological treatment. 4-Bromo-2-methylphenol binds irreversibly to the active site of the enzyme, preventing it from breaking down collagen, which leads to scarring. It also inhibits other enzymes such as lysyl oxidase and elastase. The production of ATP by mitochondria is inhibited by 4-bromo-2-methylphenol, leading to cell death. This chemical can be activated with water vapor or an electric field and has been used for ferroelectric electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
