Descrizione:1,3-Cycloheptanedione is an organic compound that has been synthesized by the reaction of sodium formate and iodomethane in a nonpolar solvent, followed by alkylation with azulene. The product was purified by column chromatography and recrystallization from hot water. It has been shown to be a suitable cocatalyst for the synthesis of 1,2-diols from l-amino acids in the presence of trimethylchlorosilane. In addition, it is used as a precursor to daphniphyllum alkaloids such as daphniphylline.
