Descrizione:H-beta-Chloro-D-Ala-OH·HCl is a prodrug that has been shown to have synergistic effects with 1-amino-cyclopropane carboxylic acid. It has been shown to inhibit the production of glutamate and dopamine in neuro2a cells. H-beta-Chloro-D-Ala-OH·HCl has also been found to inhibit racemase activity in rat liver microsomes, suggesting an important role for this enzyme in the metabolism of dopamine. The kinetic studies of H-beta-Chloro-D-Ala HCL have shown that it is more reactive than its parent compound, beta chlorohydrin, because it lacks a hydroxyl group. X ray crystal structures have also revealed that this drug binds to the enzyme's active site and competes with substrate for binding. This competitive inhibition leads to a decrease in the production of glutamate and dopamine by blocking the conversion of L-(
