Descrizione:2-(2-Chlorophenoxy)-2-methylpropanoic acid is a plant hormone that is involved in the mediation of plant responses to various biotic and abiotic stressors. It is synthesized from salicylic acid by the enzyme phenylalanine ammonia-lyase and its structure resembles that of hydrogen peroxide. Its linear growth-promoting activity is mediated by the formation of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, which activates the production of hydrogen peroxide and induces cell expansion. The biosynthesis of this compound has been shown in plants through studies on excised tissues.
