Carbamic acid, N-[(1S,2R)-3-chloro-2-hydroxy-1-(phenylmethyl)propyl]-, 1,1-dimethylethyl ester is an organic compound with a chemical formula of C8H10ClNO2. It is a crystalline solid that is soluble in water and has a melting point of about 40°C. This product has been shown to produce high yields with low impurities when synthesized from the corresponding phenylacetic acid and chloroacetic acid. Carbamic acid, N-[(1S,2R)-3-chloro-2-hydroxy-1-(phenylmethyl)propyl]-, 1,1-dimethylethyl ester can be used as an intermediate for synthesis of other compounds. Impurities are generated by sulfuric acid or sulfuric acid as a byproduct during the process of producing this compound.
