Descrizione

P-Coumaryl alcohol is a metabolite of coumarin that has significant cytotoxicity. It is an ATP-binding cassette transporter substrate and an inhibitor of the enzyme activities of sodium salt hydrolase and p-hydroxybenzoic acid hydrolase. P-Coumaryl alcohol also inhibits the production of prostaglandins, which are inflammatory mediators. P-Coumaryl alcohol has been shown to have antiinflammatory activity against 4-hydroxycinnamic acid in a model system using 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. P-Coumaryl alcohol also has a synergistic effect with caffeic acids, which are naturally occurring phenolic compounds found in plants, and sephadex G-100, a polymeric matrix that binds to drugs/metabolites in biological samples.
