- Cytidine sulfate salt
- 4-amino-1-(beta-L-ribofuranosyl)pyrimidin-2(1H)-one sulfate (1:1)
Cytidine-5'-sulfate is a nucleotide analog that inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA by interacting with the hydrophilic region of nucleotides. It has been shown to inhibit protein phosphatase activity in lymphoblastoid cells, which may be due to its ability to bind to the phosphate group. Cytidinesulfate has been shown to inhibit blood group A and B antigens in human erythrocytes. This substance also interacts with 5-aminouracil, causing a shift in the orientation of 5-aminouracil from 5'-GMP-3' (inactive) to 5'-AMP-3' (active). The interaction between cytidine-5'-sulfate and orotic acid has also been studied, showing a high concentration of cytidinesulfate can inhibit this reaction.
