This compound is synthesized by the condensation of anthranilic acid and chloroacetic acid, followed by catalyzed cyclization with cyclohexanone. The mechanism of action of 2-(cyclohex-1-enylamino)benzoic acid is mediated by its ability to react as a nucleophile with mycobacterial dna, causing DNA cleavage and inhibiting bacterial growth.2-(Cyclohex-1-enylamino)benzoic acid is also an inhibitor of the enzyme enamine oxidase, which is necessary for the biosynthesis of polyamines.
