Descrizione:Crotoxyphos is a carbamate insecticide that has been shown to have genotoxic effects in vitro and in vivo. Crotoxyphos inhibits the activity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) by forming an ester bond with the active site serine residue. This prevents hydrolysis of acetylcholine, which is necessary for normal neurotransmission. At high concentrations, crotoxyphos can cause acute toxicities such as convulsions, tremors, and seizures. The optimum concentration for crotoxyphos varies depending on the type of test system used. It is most effective at 10-100 ppm in a model system and 20-200 ppm in experimental animals.
Crotoxyphos can inhibit protease activity by forming hydrogen bonding interactions with the nitrogen atom on the active site serine residue. This leads to inhibition of protein synthesis and cell death.
