It has shown potential for use as an anticancer agent due to its ability to decrease the mitochondrial membrane potential and increase the surface methodology of cancer cells. N-(p-Coumaroyl) serotonin also has anti-inflammatory effects and has been shown to inhibit epidermal growth factor (EGF) and hydroxyl group production in rat liver microsomes.
