Descrizione

2-(Carboxymethoxy)-thioxanthone is a photophysical compound that absorbs light in the ultraviolet region. It has been shown to undergo photolysis, with the release of sulfur and proton transfer. 2-(Carboxymethoxy)-thioxanthone is bifunctional, with parameters that are different for each reaction. The reactivity of this compound depends on the type of laser irradiation and solvent used as well as the wavelength of light. This molecule can be used in photoinitiators and postulated as a possible replacement for methyl methacrylate in laser-based polymerization techniques such as transfer or electron beam.
