Descrizione:2-Chlorotoluene is an industrial chemical that is used as a precursor to other chemicals. It is produced by the chlorination of toluene. 2-Chlorotoluene can be synthesized in two steps from toluene and hydrochloric acid, or in one step from tetrahydropyran and chlorine gas. It can also be prepared from carbonyl chloride and iodine, or by the reaction of a metal hydroxide with hydroiodic acid. 2-Chlorotoluene is used as a catalyst for analytical methods such as gas chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, but it has not been shown to have any utility in bacterial cell systems. The most common use of 2-chlorotoluene is industrially in the synthesis of pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and dyes.
