Cyclopentanecarbonyl chloride is an anti-inflammatory drug that belongs to the class of benzimidazole compounds. It has been shown to be effective against autoimmune diseases and infectious diseases, as well as cancer. Cyclopentanecarbonyl chloride inhibits the binding of adenosine to its receptor in a competitive manner. This inhibition leads to the activation of cAMP and protein kinase A, which inhibits inflammation. Cyclopentanecarbonyl chloride also has an inhibitory effect on chemokines, which are inflammatory mediators that are involved in immune responses during infection.
Cyclopentanecarbonyl chloride has been shown to suppress HIV infection by inhibiting chemokine production and preventing the entry of HIV into cells.
